The Performing Arts Centre (CPAC) is hosting the Citizenship Ceremony and Australia Day Awards at Cessnock this year (2020).

Two days of free activities start on Friday 24 January at CPAC with a screening of Muriel’s Wedding at 6:30pm.

On Sunday 26 January from 10am until midday sees Australia’s newest citizens attend their Citizenship Ceremony, followed by recognition of those in our community who go above and beyond in the Australia Day Awards. A free BBQ breakfast is on between 8am and 10am in the courtyard outside of CPAC (Castlemaine St, Cessnock).

After the official proceedings the fourth annual Mayor’s Cup Twenty20 Cricket Match has local players battle it out on the pitch at East End Oval.

Cool down and enjoy a splash at the Cessnock and Branxton Pools for FREE between 10am and 4pm.

All events are strictly alcohol free.

Cessnock City Mayor, Councillor Bob Pynsent said it’s an opportunity for residents to get involved in a community event.

What a fantastic few days we have planned to celebrate this great country we live in. A citizenship ceremony on Australia Day is always extra special.”

Council thanked East Cessnock Bowling Club for hosting the celebrations in the past.
