Lake Macquarie City Council meeting highlights for Monday 2 December 2019

Final determinations made at last night’s Standing Committee Meeting of Lake Macquarie City Council.

Exhibition of Draft Charlestown Transport Management Plan

Council endorsed the draft Charlestown Transport Management Plan for community consultation for 42 days. The Plan recommends actions to improve customer experiences when travelling to and within Charlestown, whether by bus, ride share, walking, cycling or private transport.

Draft Financial Hardship Assistance Policy and Draft Debt Recovery Policy

Council adopted a new Financial Hardship Assistance Policy and amended Debt Recovery Policy.

Proposed Acquisition for Public Park – Teralba

Council authorised the acquisition of land at 11 Griffen Road, Teralba to support the future development of sporting and recreation facilities.

Exhibition of draft Environmental Sustainability Strategy and Action Plan 2020-2027

Council endorsed the draft Lake Macquarie Environmental Sustainability Strategy and Action Plan 2020-2027 for community consultation.

Event Funding Assistance Program 2019-2020

Council approved more than $90,000 in funding towards community events through Round 2 of the Event Funding Assistance Program.

The events include:

  • Dobell Festival of Arts and Craft
  • Raffertys Coastal Run
  • 2020 BMX Australia National Series Round
  • Blast from the Past 2020
  • Kahibah Village Markets
  • Feast and Ride with Pride
Urban and Public Art Strategy 2019-2029

Council adopted the Urban and Public Art Strategy 2019-2029.
