Rail Bridge Row Under Hammer

The Hunter and Central Coast Development Corporation (HCCDC) is selling final parcel of Newcastle CBD’s former rail corridor.

Rail Bridge Row land fronting Hunter Street, opposite Crown Street. Former heavy rail corridor.

The 4125 sqm site is located opposite Crown Street’s light rail stop on Hunter Street and designated Rail Bridge Row after the AA Company Bridge that once crossed the site to take coal to the harbour.

Acting Chief Executive Valentina Misevska said Rail Bridge Row presents a rare investment opportunity in the Newcastle CBD.

Rail Bridge Row has an amazing street frontage along Hunter Street – the long and narrow site provides the opportunity to create a high-quality streetscape that, together with residential and commercial outcomes, will help to attract more people into the city centre,” said Ms Misevska.

HCCDC has recently created new public spaces like Market Street Lawn and Museum Park, as well as facilitating opportunities like the University of Newcastle Honeysuckle expansion and the Evolve affordable housing outcome.

The urban renewal of our city is ongoing, with much to look forward to.”
