Now, about that plan..

Filed under Community, Council, News ~ by Press on  29 Sep 2019

Maitland City Council has prepared a draft Community Participation Plan (CPP) to meet new requirements under the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act (EP&A Act) 1979.

The purpose of a CPP is to set out how and when the community can have their say on the planning functions exercised by Council in the Maitland Local Government Area (LGA). Planning functions include plan making and assessing and making decisions on proposed development. The draft CPP sets out minimum public exhibition time frames (including notification of development applications) as provided by the EP&A Act 1979.

The level and extent of community participation will vary depending on the scope of the proposal under consideration and the potential impact of the decision on the community. The community includes anyone who is affected by planning and development in the Maitland LGA.
