Five Lake Mac Swim Centres will undergo a mini-makeover this winter with a variety of improvement works getting under way this week at Charlestown, Morisset, Speers Point, Swansea and West Wallsend.

Mayor of Lake Macquarie, Councillor Kay Fraser, said with more than 306,101 visitations since June our swim centres are a valuable asset for Council.

We are carrying out these improvement works in response to feedback we’ve received from our customers in recent years asking for more shade, seating, barbecues and open grassed areas.

By providing additional shade, seating and barbecue facilities, we hope to create a more family-friendly environment allowing visitors to continue to enjoy using our swim centres for years to come.”

The works are expected to be complete by spring 2019.

Proudly funded by the NSW Government through the Stronger Country Communities Fund in association with Lake Macquarie City Council.

Improvement works:

· Charlestown – shade structures, barbecue facilities and seating

· Morisset – barbecue facilities

· Speers Point – turf replacement and irrigation, shade and seating

· Swansea – turf replacement and irrigation, shade, barbecue facilities and seating

· West Wallsend – shade structure
