The centre’s hydrotherapy and spa pools were demolished and replaced with a single combined pool.

All three pools will be filled and tested this week in case any further work to their superstructure is needed before retiling begins.

Work is also underway on a new training room at the back of the swim centre, and on a new foyer and kiosk area.

Community Assets Section Manager Brendan Callander said existing tiling is stripped from all three pools and construction of new entry steps into the main 25m pool was now complete.

Prior to the refurbishment, the main pool only had ladders and temporary drop-in steps for access,” Mr Callander said.

Having a permanent set of access steps will make it much easier for all ages to enjoy the revamped facility.”

We know the community is keen to see the centre open as soon as possible, but we want to make sure we get the job right and deliver a facility that serves the community for many more years to come.”

The overhaul began in August 2018 and ison track for a spring opening.
