Belmont Baths reopen this weekend

Lake Macquarie’s largest swimming baths reopen this Saturday after a $850,000 rebuild.

Belmont Baths now feature a netted swimming area 70m long and 45m wide, replacing the former baths damaged beyond repair during the April 2015 super-storm.

Mayor of Lake Macquarie, Councillor Kay Fraser, will officially open the new facility at a community celebration on Saturday 22 December, just in time for Christmas.

The free event will feature live music, inflatable races, a sausage sizzle and more.

This is the perfect time of year for Belmont Baths to reopen,” Cr Fraser said.

With lake water quality the best it has been for decades, these baths will provide a place for the community to enjoy one of our great natural assets.”

The new-look baths include a 70m-long jetty, with netting around all four sides.

The next stage of work, due to begin early next year, will include construction of a new amenities block with accessible change room and aquatic wheelchair storage, and foreshore landscaping. This stage of the project is jointly funded by the NSW Government and Lake Macquarie City Council.
