Traffic travelling north towards Maitland from the Newcastle Link Road will notice the new bridge launching over the road.

On Tuesday 31 July northbound traffic on the F3 Freeway will be reduced to one lane for about one kilometre either side of the Newcastle Link Road from 9.30am to 2.30pm, weather permitting. A 40km/h speed limit will be in place and motorists are advised to exercise caution.

Buchanan Road, Buchanan

Only one lane will be available on Buchanan Road from John Renshaw Drive to west of the site access from Monday 30 July to Monday 6 August. Traffic will operate under contra flow and traffic lights will be in place.

John Renshaw Drive / George Booth Drive, Buchanan

Changed traffic conditions are in place on Buchanan Road near the intersection of John Renshaw Drive. Motorists are advised to exercise caution and reduce their speed.

Motorists should expect increased activity around the Buchanan roundabout. Traffic on John Renshaw Drive from Averys Lane to Old Buttai Road and on George Booth Drive near John Renshaw Drive may be stopped briefly on weekdays between 7am and 6pm.

The speed limit has been reduced to 40km/h on a one kilometre section of George Booth Drive at Surveyors Creek No. 2, near the intersection of John Renshaw Drive at Buchanan.

Changed traffic conditions are in place on this section of George Booth Drive until mid-August. Traffic barriers are in place and motorists should exercise caution.

George Booth Drive, Buchanan

Traffic may be stopped on George Booth Drive for up to five minutes to allow oversized vehicles carrying bridge segments to travel between Surveyors Creek No. 3 and Blue Gum Creek.

Traffic along George Booth Drive will be stopped briefly to allow oversized vehicles carrying bridge segments to travel between Blue Gum Creek and Seahampton Road.

Traffic control will be in place and motorists may be stopped briefly to allow the vehicles to safely access the site.

Ongoing traffic changes on the F3 Freeway and Newcastle Link Road

The northbound Newcastle exit ramp is closed until late August to allow the ramp to be rebuilt. Motorists travelling north on the F3 Freeway to Newcastle must use the Cardiff exit onto George Booth Drive and travel along Cameron Park Drive to access Newcastle Link Road. The speed limit on the F3 Freeway near the Newcastle interchange has been reduced to 80km/h until the end of 2012 for median work.

The speed limit on approach to the Cameron Park roundabout has been reduced to 60km/h until mid 2013 for intersection upgrade work.

The shoulders on the F3 Freeway between the West Wallsend exit at George Booth Drive and the Newcastle interchange on Newcastle Link Road are closed to cyclists in both directions until late 2012.

The northern end of Averys Lane is now closed to through traffic and a detour is in place until May 2013, weather permitting. Motorists wishing to access the four properties at the northern end of Averys Lane will be detoured from John Renshaw Drive via the site access 600 metres east of Averys Lane. The detour is clearly signposted and a map is available on the project website.

Mulbring Street/Tarro Street, Stanford Merthyr

The speed limit on Mulbring/Tarro Street has been reduced to 40km/h for about 500 metres between Ellalong Street and Wallsend Street. The reduced speed limit is in place to allow work to be carried out near the future Stanford Merthyr roundabout. Traffic may be stopped in the area briefly to allow work to continue and may also be reduced to one lane under traffic control during work hours.

Main Road, Kurri Kurri

The speed limit on Main Road at Kurri Kurri has been reduced to 60km/h for one kilometre between Stanford Road and Cantwell Street. The reduced speed limit will be in place until next year to allow work to be carried out on Main Road. Traffic may be stopped briefly near the future Kurri Kurri interchange to allow work vehicles to cross the road.

Traffic may be stopped briefly in both directions to allow site traffic to enter and exit the site and may also be reduced to one lane under traffic control during work hours.

New England Highway, Belford

For the next two months one lane will be closed in each direction on two kilometres of the New England Highway, west of Branxton. The speed limit will be reduced to 60km/h during work hours and 80km/h otherwise. Motorists should be aware of increased heavy vehicle traffic and a reduced shoulder width between Black Creek and Belford.

Traffic turning into Standen Drive from the New England Highway may experience brief delays to allow truck movements close to the intersection.
