Local communities and not-for-profit organisations can apply for the Environmental Trust’s next round of green grants before 31 August 2012.

NSW Environment Minister Robyn Parker said applications were open for this year’s Environmental Restoration and Rehabilitation Program.

The Restoration and Rehabilitation program funds projects that protect, restore and enhance the natural environment,” Ms Parker said.

Last year the Trust awarded 49 grants totalling $4 million as part of the program for projects across NSW ranging from rehabilitating local rainforest to caring for the habitat of migratory birds.

Grants of $5,000 to $100,000 are available and open to community organisations, non-profit organisations and state and local government organisations.”

Ms Parker said the Environmental Trust was holding workshops at Cessnock, Wagga Wagga, Coffs Harbour and Sydney to help potential applicants with project planning, monitoring and best practice in environmental restoration.
