Spelling
For international readers, we use Australian (British) English spelling, so septic sprukers will notice harbour not harbor, travelling not traveling, realise not realize, and so on. That’s because the locals who read this will just get confused, and being the majority of readers they win.
Miscellaneous disclaimers
The editor is just an ordinary person with few special skills and even less knowledge, so on matters of opinion and fact the reader is most likely correct. Hence comments are disabled to stop bad press.
Newcastle is a small town, and everyone knows everyone. Therefore this blog is published on a reseller web host to layer ‘anonymity’ and allow ‘the editor’ some latitude expressing opinion.
Offence is never the purpose of any article, though criticism of a partisan group, the City Council, the State and Federal Governments - and the often banal ignorance of that fair flock of shire dwellers we lovingly refer to as Novocastrians - is quite deliberate. The editor will never descend to personal abuse or criticism of individuals in these pages.
