WHAT A FORTNIGHT COMING UP AT NEWCASTLE BASKETBALL STADIUM
Primary school kids can beat the winter chill and get active these school holidays at the Hunters Hoops Basketball Camp. The popular camp will be held on Thursday, July 23, and Friday, July 24, from 9am to 3pm at Newcastle Basketball Stadium.
The camp is suitable for beginners and more experienced players who are eager to develop their skills. A one-day pass costs $40 and a two-day pass is $65 with sibling discounts also on offer. All players will receive a water bottle, morning tea, lunch, and participation certificate.
Newcastle Basketball will be hosting the 3 on 3 Basketball Tournament, Friday 17th July, as part of the Hunter Academy of Sports Festival of Sport Program. To be held at Newcastle Basketball Stadium in Curley Road, the 3 on 3 is open to Boys and Girls in the age categories: Under 13, Under 16 and Under 20.
Newcastle Basketball is also offering a series of camps for referees and coaches to enhance their knowledge and skills. The Level 0 Coaching Course will be held this Saturday, July 11, from 8am to 11am at a cost of $27.50. The fee includes course manuals, morning tea, tuition and court hire.
The Level 1 Coaching Course begins this Friday, July 10, from 6pm to 9pm. It continues on Saturday from 8am to 6pm and Sunday from 8am to 10am. The Level 1 Basketball Coaching Certificate is part of the National Coaching Accreditation Scheme. The $126.50 cost covers the accreditation fee, course manuals and Saturday lunch, morning and afternoon tea.
The Level O Referee Course is an introduction to refereeing and teaches participants the basics. It will be held over three Tuesdays from July 21 between 4.30pm and 6.30pm at a cost of $10.
A Referee’s Holiday Camp will be held on Wednesday, July 15, and Tuesday, July 21, to give referees a chance to improve their skills and knowledge. A BBQ lunch will be provided.
